Welcome to Church of the Atonement!

Welcome to the Episcopal Church of the Atonement!

The Church of the Atonement was formed over a century ago as a congregation of the Episcopal Church. Since then, the parish has striven to worship God, to proclaim the Good News of God in Christ, and to serve Christ in all persons. Today, we continue to honor God as an active, visionary and inclusive, anglo-catholic congregation. We are committed to ministries of prayer and worship, of lifelong Christian learning, of outreach and justice, and of compassionate care for one another and the world. You are welcome here. Come join us, a vibrant spiritual presence on the corner of Ardmore and Kenmore!

Our Posted Description for our Rector Search:

A vibrant Anglo-Catholic parish situated in the diverse neighborhood of Edgewater, Atonement seeks a full-time rector. Our life is grounded in exuberant worship: three Sunday masses, Marian devotions, choral evensong, and daily masses celebrated by retired priests. Parishioners lead an EfM group, a variety of classes and forums, and the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Our outreach ministries include a local food pantry, men’s and women’s shelters, needy elementary students, mentoring for refugee families, World AIDS Day, and more. Frequent community events, processions, and joyful bell-ringing give us a strong presence in our neighborhood. Challenges: attracting more young families; maintaining our beautiful historic building. Our new rector will be deeply committed to Christ, an unabashed Anglo-Catholic with a progressive and inclusive vision. We seek someone who is energetic and mature, an inspiring preacher and loving pastor—and humble enough to enable the ministries of others.
